Picking up his second Bay Cities Racing Association Midget series Midget triumph of 2008 BCRA rookie Marco DeGeorge inherited the lead on Lap 24 aboard Mark DeGeorge’s #78 Beast/Esslinger when Justin Grant pulled out of the race while leading aboard the newly-completed #10c Paul Eskesen Stealth/Mopar to win at the lightning-fast 1/3-mile Madera Speedway on Saturday, June 14.

DeGeorge becomes the second two-time feature victor in BCRA competition in 2008, the other being North Carolina’s Shane Hmiel.

Charging to the lead on Lap 2, fifth-starting Michael Faccinto bolstered to the top spot by making a daredevil, yet clean four-wide pass on Nick Chivello, Floyd Alvis and Scott Nail, checking out from the field until the first yellow unfurled on Lap 18 when Chivello spun.

Having worked his way from his eighth-starting position and passing Faccinto for the lead on Lap 21, 17-year-old reigning BCRA champion Justin Grant powered the #10c Paul Eskesen Stealth/Mopar to a several car length lead over Faccinto and DeGeorge.

Coasting to a stop with six laps to go, Grant retired to the infield on Lap 24 with apparent fuel pickup problems, ending his evening. He was scored tenth --- the only car not running at the finish.

Closely following DeGeorge to the finish were Hanford young gun Michael Faccinto aboard the #41 Gary Scelzi Village Tire Beast/Mopar, youngster Kyle Dickerson aboard grandfather Harold’s #11k Beast/Ed Pink Ford and Lakeport Speedway track record holder and second-place pointsman Nick Foster, Jr. aboard Jim Fowler’s #24 Beast/Gaerte.

A great battled transpired for the Top four spots during the final seven laps, with DeGeorge leading the trio of Faccinto, Foster and Dickerson with DeGeorge taking the narrow win by only seven tenths of a second.

After recovering from a half-spin early in the race, Dickerson overtook Foster on Lap 27 en route to claiming third.

Following the lead four to the finish were point’s leader Scott Nail aboard Stu Donaldson’s #8x Stealth/Pontiac in fifth, Midget Lite grad “Nitro” Nick Chivello aboard father Daniel’s #27b Beast/Esslinger in sixth, 7-time BCRA champion “Ageless Wonder” Floyd Alvis in his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Van Dyne in seventh, Mike Donaldson aboard Stu Donaldson’s #8 Stealth/Gaerte in eighth and Clovis’ Danny Parker piloting his own #38 Stewart/Dyne in ninth. Grant was scored in tenth place.

Eskesen’s Stealth/Mopar, assembled partly by Marc DeBeaumont of DMS Race Products, is an older Stealth chassis converted by Marc and Doug at DMS, with desired pick-up points added on the car. Marc and Doug were on-hand, assisting Justin and Paul throughout the day, helping make the #10c one of the most competitive cars at the track.

Fast-timer Daniel Bedford suffered form mechanical gremlins during Heat 2, retiring from the evening with unknown engine problems aboard the #03 Bedford Motorsports Beast/Mopar. Bedford blistered the lightning-fast Madera oval in 13.966 seconds, the only driver clocking in less than 14 seconds.

Faccinto claimed the 4-lap Trophy Dash over DeGeorge, Bedford and Grant/

Foster claimed Heat 1 over Nail, Donaldson, Dickerson and Parker.

DeGeorge claimed Heat 2 over Faccinto, Grant, Chivello and Bedford.

Scott Nail (708) now leads the BCRA Midget championship points over Nick Foster Jr. (677), Floyd Alvis (622), Kyle Dickerson, Nick Chivello, Mike Donaldson, Justin Grant, Kevin Morris, Dan Parker and Dallen McKenney.
